There are some sessions that just feel light from the very beginning—and Kayla and Jack’s spring engagement session in Chicago was exactly that.
From the moment we met up at the Wrigley Building, it felt less like a “session” and more like four friends spending an evening together. My husband came along (as he always does for Chicago sessions), and instantly the tone was set: relaxed, joyful, and full of laughter.
Kayla and Jack have that kind of connection you can’t manufacture. It’s playful, easy, and completely natural. Whether they were dancing along or laughing through a champagne pop, every moment felt genuine. Nothing forced. Nothing posed beyond what simply felt like them.
The Wrigley Building gave us that classic Chicago elegance—the soft glow of the city, the architecture towering around us, and just enough buzz in the background to make it feel alive without overwhelming their connection. It was the perfect place to start, especially for a couple who brings so much energy and joy into every space they step into.
After soaking in the city, we made our way to North Ave Beach just as the evening light softened over the skyline. And this is where things shifted in the best way.
Heels came off. Laughter got louder. The whole session felt even more carefree.
There’s something about being by the water that invites people to just be—and Kayla and Jack fully leaned into that. They held each other a little closer, laughed a little harder, and didn’t hold back a single ounce of who they are together.
What stood out most wasn’t just how much fun we had (and we had a LOT of fun)—it was how effortless their joy is. The kind of joy that doesn’t need direction. The kind that shows up naturally when two people feel safe, known, and fully themselves.
By the end of the night, it didn’t feel like we had just documented an engagement session—it felt like we had been invited into something real.
Kayla and Jack, your love is vibrant, playful, and so easy to celebrate. Getting to capture this season for you was an absolute gift.
I cannot wait for your wedding day.
