Some sessions are meaningful.

And then there are sessions like this one that feel like such an honor to witness.

Dillon reached out to plan what Jordan thought was simply a photo session. They were preparing for a big move to Texas and realized they had never taken professional photos together before. Dillon wanted to surprise Jordan with beautiful images they could hang in their new home.

But he had something even more special planned.

He was going to propose.

A Perfect Spring Day at Hamstra Gardens

Hamstra Gardens was absolutely glowing that afternoon. Spring had just begun to wake everything up. The trees were starting to bloom, the gardens were full of fresh green color, and the sunshine created the dreamiest golden light around the pond.

It was the kind of day photographers hope for all spring.

Jordan arrived thinking this was simply a couples session before their move. She had no idea that Dillon had a ring ready and a life-changing question planned.

The Moment Dillon Dropped to One Knee

As we walked through the gardens taking photos, Dillon patiently waited for the perfect moment. He and I had had it all planned out. I was positioning them for a fun candid pose when mid pose.. I “changed my mind”… He got down on one knee…

Jordan’s reaction was priceless — pure shock, excitement, and joy all at once. The kind of moment you can’t plan or recreate.

Just real emotion.

Those are always the photos that matter the most.

Celebrating Their Engagement

After she said YES, we spent time walking around Hamstra Gardens capturing the excitement of their brand new engagement.

You could feel the joy between them in every photo — laughter, hugs, and that just-engaged glow.

Moments like these are why I love what I do. Being trusted to capture one of the most important milestones in someone’s life is something I never take lightly.

Why This Proposal Was Extra Special to Me

This session meant even more to me personally because Dillon is actually my cousin’s son. Getting to photograph such an important moment for family made it even more meaningful.

Watching someone you’ve known for years step into this new chapter of life is something really special.

And getting to capture the moment it all begins? That’s something I’ll never forget.
