Some sessions start with a camera.

This one started with dinner.

When Matt and Chloe met me at the restaurant at Sandy Pines, the plan was simple—just a relaxed evening session to help me build my portfolio with a sweet couple. We grabbed a table, hung out for a bit, and got to know each other while we waited for the light to soften before sunset.

At least… that’s what Chloe thought.

What she didn’t know was that while we were chatting and enjoying the evening, their closest friends and family were gathered at the bridal house nearby setting up a surprise engagement party for after the proposal.

Matt had planned everything.

Once the sun started dipping lower, we headed out to take a few photos around the property. We started simple—just a few relaxed portraits as we walked around Sandy Pines and enjoyed the warm summer evening.

But Matt had a destination in mind.

Slowly we made our way up toward the 9th hole.

And that’s where the moment happened.

With the pond behind them and the golden evening light wrapping around the green, Matt got down on one knee and asked Chloe to marry him.

Her reaction was pure emotion—shock, tears, laughter, and that overwhelming joy that only comes from a moment you’ll remember forever.

And the surprises didn’t stop there.

After she said yes, their closest friends and family who were waiting patiently, came pouring out of the bridal house to celebrate their engagement.

Even their adorable fur baby was there to join the celebration.

Looking back now, this night holds even more meaning. Chloe’s mom, who was there celebrating alongside them that evening, passed away less than a year later. She wasn’t able to be there for their wedding day or to meet their son.

But she was there for this.

She was there to witness the beginning of their forever.

Moments like that are a reminder of why photographs matter so much. They hold onto the joy, the laughter, and the people who made those moments unforgettable.
